Saw Operator/Trainee Fabricator

Due to the expansion of our company and the promotion of our current saw operator we have a vacancy for a new operative. This is a progressive position affording you the opportunity to train in house, learning fabrication, welding and engineering skills. We are looking for a hard working, self motivated individual, capable of understanding manufacturing principals, problem solving, thinking on their feet, with a keen eye for uncompromising detail. A background in practical applications would be a big advantage in this role as we are looking for an accuracy level of +/- 0.5mm on every cut.
Minimum requirements of 3 GCSEs at grade C or above, in at least one of the following subjects: Design technology (or similar equivalent), Mathematics, Physics. Fluent English is a must for this role, due to the communicative nature of your ongoing training.
Daily duties will include operating bandsaws, pillar drills, pistol drills, hand tapping, fettling and marking out. Keeping the workshop and associated areas clean and organized would also be your responsibility, along with basic machine maintenance. In return for your diligence and hard work you will have the opportunity to learn to progress your career in engineering, learning welding, fabrication, sheet metalwork, coach building, machining as well as a vast array of other manufacturing disciplines.
Own transport to our workshop in Peterborough will be required.
